As I've mentioned about a million times throughout this site, I'd really like feedback, especially if you yourself are a soulbonder or otakukin, and would like to share your story here. If you are and would, or if you've got anything else to add, go ahead and use this page to do so. It asks what 2+2 is to avoid the robots.

  1. Hello, I read your article about otherkin, and was very impressed. It’s the most down-to-earth explanation of otherkin I’ve read yet, and hopefully it will prevent future trolls/flamers. It’s also the only article I’ve read that gives advice to people who know any otherkin (like the fact that they are still the same people they were before they told you about themselves, which SOOOO many people seem no not realize…). Anyway;

    If you are interested, there is another sub-culture that you could add to your site if you so choose, and the sub-culture I’m speaking of is therianthropy.

    Therianthropy is, as simply put as possible, an animal in a human’s body. It is very similar to otherkin, some even consider it a branch of otherkin-ness, but there are some key differences. Therianthropes (or therians, as most call them), are mostly earthly creatures, as opposed to otherkin being elves, fae, dragons, etc. Therians also go through something called “shifting,” where they fade in and out of having a mindset/personality of their theriotype (the animal they are). When shifted, many therians will usually acquire very minor personality changes, but shifts can range from forgetting how to talk, to chewing on things without realizing (very common actually ^_^), and even walking around on all fours growling at people (not as common :P ). Some claim that they shift under stress, or when relaxed, and others claim that they can shift at will, usually through meditation. There are also therians that are “permanently” shifted, called con-therians by some.

    Anyway, I should probably wrap this up. I only summed up therianthropy, so there is still a lot I didn’t mention. If you want to know more about therianthropy, there are many forums full of therians willing to answer questions. I’m a therian myself, so feel free to e-mail me with questions, comments, spam, whatever. I’d be glad to help.

    P.S. If you do decide to add therianthropy to ES, it could be a section of the article on otherkin, since they share many similarities, and most therians and otherkin consider therianthropy a branch of otherkin.
